Cathy Abramson’s
approach to art has been described as quick and complicated. The subjects seem
accessible, but the densities of the scenes add layers of meaning. Abramson
makes a point of getting to know the models and their environment to gain entry
into another’s world, feeling that only then can a minor detail provide a
universe of meaning to a painting. Abramson’s works have appeared in galleries
in New York City and locally in juried exhibits including VisArts in Rockville
and the Workhouse Arts Center in Virginia.

Carolyn Jackson
prefers to work en plein air in the spring, summer and fall, wherever her
portable easel takes her. She enjoys working outdoors, capturing light and
shadow in the later afternoon, with a particular fondness for buildings of any
kind. Currently residing in Gaithersburg, Jackson has a Bachelors of Art in Art
History from the University of Maryland-College Park and has studied art at the
Maryland Institute, the Corcoran School of Art, and the Torpedo Factory.
Jackson’s solo shows have included Kentlands Mansion, Georgetown University
Hospital, the Historic Tavern at the C&O Canal, and the Yellow Barn in Glen
Echo.

Vian
Borchert’s
expressionistic style illustrates a poetic mood and a thoughtful journey in the
world of painting. Considering herself an artist of feelings, Borchert paints
figures with an emphasis on the portrait – the twist and position of the body
and hands, and the certain mood that color gives the figure. She is a
professional artist and art instructor with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the
Corcoran College of Art and Design and a Master Web Design degree. A native of
Beirut, Lebanon and a one time resident of Amman, Jordan, Borchert now makes her
home in Maryland. Her works have appeared in the Contemporary Museum of Art in
Georgetown, the International Trade Center, and the Cairo Amman Bank Gallery.
